UTSA Offices Focused on Hispanic Student Success

Counseling Services

Counseling and Mental Health Services provides a confidential atmosphere where students may discuss concerns that are important in their lives. To facilitate access to the university’s Hispanic/Latino student population, the center employs staff members with training and experience in multicultural counseling and offers psychotherapy in Spanish upon request.

Dreamers Resource Center

Meeting the needs of UTSA’s undocumented students, this center provides support services to help Dreamers achieve academic and personal success, while also acting as a campus and community advocate.

First Generation and Transfer Student Center

The First-Generation and Transfer Student Center is committed to supporting undergraduate students that identify as first-generation students or have transferred from a two-year college.

Fostering Educational Success Center

A joint venture between the Division of Student Success and the Department of Social Work, this center is designed to help students with a history of foster care overcome the unique challenges they face in pursuing higher education.

Graduation Help Desk

In an effort to consolidate all the tools and resources available to help students stay on track to graduate in four years, UTSA created a one-stop resource for students who need assistance getting classes required to graduate on time. The Graduation Help Desk staff work with students, faculty and advisors to resolve roadblocks.

Multicultural Center

The UTSA Intercultural and Student Engagement Center is committed to fostering a campus culture that promotes active engagement through service and social justice.

Strategic Educational Partnerships

To promote a college-going culture among students from underrepresented backgrounds, UTSA offers the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program, the McNair Scholars Program, Student Support Services, Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search.

Resilience and Retention Advising Program

The Resilience and Retention Advising Program was created in Spring 2017 as part of a university initiative to help increase the retention of Hispanic and Underrepresented Minority students. Excelencia in Education named this program a 2020 Examples of Excelencia – Program to Watch.

Student Success Academic Advising Complex

Opening in fall 2020, this new complex will consolidate the university’s undergraduate advising services and select support programs into one area on campus to make it easier for students to access the programs and resources they need to succeed.

Tomás Rivera Center

The Tomás Rivera Center promotes lifelong student success by providing innovative resources to UTSA students and our community. It is committed to delivering an unparalleled experience to help students succeed. Excelencia in Education named the Center’s Access College and Excel (ACE) program as a 2020 Examples of Excelencia finalist.
